Two musicians, one rehearsal room, and months before either plays the honest note. Extrait No. 36 opens on bergamot and violin rosin, then settles into a heart of rosewood, iris and a drop of honey. Tonka, sandalwood and soft tobacco leaf give it a resonant, lingering trail — the sound of a chord still ringing after the bow has lifted.
